Planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, inspection and repair: CPV division 50. It covers buildings and their plant, from heating, lifts and fire systems to fabric repairs, and also the servicing of vehicles, machinery and equipment.

This is the category where the contract term matters more than the value. Maintenance is usually let for several years with extension options, often as a measured term contract or a call-off against a framework, so the notice you can bid for today may be the only chance for some time. The buyer normally states response times and out-of-hours cover, and those are what decide whether a small firm can service the contract, more often than the money does. Where work is lotted by trade or by area, read the lots before the headline value.
